Hammerschmidt: I am a fulltime architectural and design professional who can’t resist the internal drive to paint and draw things unrelated to architecture and design. I simply approach art as a form of personal meditation. I paint only what satisfies my need to paint. My focus and technique often varies. At times I pursue more conceptual work, but most often I paint directly from my observations of the natural environment. The natural landscapes and wilderness of the Western US have a profound influence on me and my work. I am a graduate of the Rhode Island School of Design (RISD), with a Master of Architecture Degree. I received a Bachelor Degree in Architectural Studies at the University of Utah. I currently reside in Salt Lake City Utah.
